Red and near-infrared therapy
Light therapy for the parts of you that actually work.
Solera makes red light devices for hands, joints and the places that wear out from being used. Founded by a hand therapist who got tired of recommending things her patients couldn't do at home.
Why hands
Almost every red light device is built for the face.
Which is strange, because your face isn't the part of you that wears out. Hands open jars, hold tools, type all day and carry children. They stiffen first, they ache longest, and until recently nobody was building for them properly.
Masks, wands, panels. An enormous category built around how you look in a mirror.
Hands, wrists, knees, elbows, feet. The joints doing the actual work, and a fraction of the devices designed for them.
Why we started
I spent years treating hands. The same conditions, the same conversations, and the same frustration every time — the treatments that work best are the ones people can't easily do at home.
Light therapy was the exception. The evidence kept improving and the devices kept getting better, and almost all of them were built for faces.
So we started with hands. Not because faces don't matter, but because hands are what wear out first.
Available now
The hand and wrist device.
Eighty dual-wavelength LEDs — forty above your hand and forty below — at 70 mW/cm². Twenty minutes, then it shuts itself off. Unzipped, the same device lays flat against a knee, an elbow or a foot.
- 80 dual-wavelength LEDs — 660nm and 850nm in every one, at 70 mW/cm²
- Forty above your hand and forty below, so both sides are lit at once
- 10 Hz pulsed output, three intensity levels, 20-minute auto shut-off
- Unzips flat for a knee, an elbow or a foot
- Cordless — about three sessions per charge

What's next
Hands first. Then everything else that aches.
We would rather build one device properly than five badly. Here's the order we're working in, and where each one honestly stands.
Hand and wrist
The device we started with. Closes over a hand, opens flat for anything larger.
Knee
A larger panel shaped for the joint most people ask us about second.
Foot and ankle
Plantar fasciitis and Achilles complaints are the most common request after hands.
Neck and shoulder
Desk work wrecks more than hands. We're still working out the right shape for it.
How we work
The unglamorous details.
Twenty minutes, most evenings.
Nothing to strap on, nothing to plug in, and it turns itself off. Ninety days to change your mind.
